GOOD TO KNOW

Frequently asked
questions.

If a feature isn't working as expected, tell us the platform, macOS version and the microphone or audio interface you're using.

Does NAAD need an internet connection?

Core vocal practice and pitch analysis are designed to work offline. Downloading the app, updates and opening website links require an internet connection.

Do I need a studio microphone?

No. NAAD can use compatible built-in or external microphones. A quality external microphone and a quiet room may help capture cleaner audio, but they aren't mandatory.

Can I use NAAD with a RØDE NT1?

On a compatible Mac, NAAD supports selecting Core Audio input devices. Make sure the microphone or interface is connected and selected in the app. Check input gain to avoid clipping.

Can I bring my own reference vocals and backing tracks?

Reference Practice on macOS supports importing vocal and backing audio. You can compare pitch against the vocal reference while using backing stems for listening.

Does NAAD store my recordings online?

The initial app is designed for on-device pitch processing. Optional WAV recording is off by default and stores audio locally for export. See our Privacy Policy for the details.

Is NAAD free?

NAAD is planned to be free at launch. Future releases may introduce optional paid functionality, clearly disclosed before purchase.

Can I use NAAD instead of a DAW?

NAAD focuses on vocal practice, pitch guidance and simple local recording/export. For detailed mixing, comping, effects and mastering, use your preferred digital audio workstation.
