NAAD — vocal practice application
Provider: NEXPER Pty Ltd, New South Wales, Australia
Last updated: 31 October 2026

1. Overview

NAAD is designed as an offline-first vocal practice application. Core features process microphone audio on your device to calculate musical pitch and display practice feedback. This policy explains how NAAD is designed to handle that information and how to contact us.

This policy describes NAAD's initial offline-first release. We will update it when material data-handling practices change.

2. Microphone access and pitch analysis

NAAD requests access to your microphone when you choose to start a practice activity that needs it. The microphone signal is analysed on your device to estimate pitch, notes, intonation and related musical feedback. Revoking microphone access in your operating-system settings can prevent microphone-based features from working.

Pitch data and musical feedback are estimates. Microphone quality, background sound and audio routing may affect the results.

3. Optional local audio recordings

Recording full microphone audio to WAV is off by default. If you enable recording in app settings before starting a practice session, the app can create a local recording of that session for export. Recordings are stored on your device; they are not uploaded to NEXPER merely by being recorded.

Recorded takes may initially be stored in an app-controlled temporary location. You should export and securely save any recording you want to keep. Uninstalling the app, clearing application data or operating-system cleanup may remove locally stored content. Exporting a file to another application or cloud provider makes that provider's own privacy terms relevant.

4. Practice history and imported media

NAAD may save practice-session summaries, pitch-contour data, settings and preferences locally so you can review your progress. Reference Practice may access audio files you explicitly select and process a local temporary copy for pitch comparison and playback. Importing a file does not transfer ownership or distribution rights to NEXPER.

You are responsible for respecting the rights of other artists and recording owners when importing and using reference material.

5. Accounts, cloud storage and third parties

Core NAAD practice does not require you to create an account. The initial release is intended to operate without uploading raw microphone audio or practice history to NEXPER servers. We will disclose any future optional cloud or AI functionality and related third-party processing before enabling it in a release.

The NAAD website is a static information site. It has no account form, newsletter sign-up or analytics scripts in this published website package. Server/CDN infrastructure may process standard technical request information (such as IP address and request time) as part of delivering the website; that processing is subject to the hosting provider's operation and retention policies.

6. How to manage your data

You can choose not to enable local audio recording, change microphone permissions using the operating system, and use available in-app controls to delete practice history. You can delete exported files yourself and remove app-managed data by uninstalling NAAD or using platform data controls. Backups or copies you saved in other locations may remain until you remove them there.

7. Security and retention

On-device information is protected by applicable operating-system storage and application permissions. We aim to minimise unnecessary collection and do not operate a user-audio upload service for the initial release. Local file retention can depend on the type of data, app actions and operating-system cleanup. Do not treat temporary recordings as a permanent backup.

8. Children and sensitive use

NAAD is a general-purpose music practice tool, not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose or treat voice conditions. Parents and guardians should supervise use by children where appropriate under their local laws and platform rules.

9. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy to reflect changes in NAAD, legal requirements or the services used to distribute the app. The most recent version will be available at naad.nexper.ai/privacy.
